4.TQM development history
Four stages of development for Total Quality Management (TQM)
Beginning with the concept of total quality management proposed by Fügenborg in 1961, all countries in the world conducted comprehensive and in-depth research on it, so that the ideas, methods and theories of total quality management are continuously applied and developed in practice. In a nutshell, the development of total quality management has gone through the following four stages:
◆Japan introduced total quality management from the United States
In 1950, Dr. Dai Ming gave a quality management lecture in Japan, and the Japanese learned this new idea and method of quality management. At that time, the ideas and concepts of total quality management were not completely proposed as they are now, but it has greatly promoted the development of the Japanese economy. By 1970, quality management had gradually penetrated the grassroots of all Japanese companies.
◆General use of statistical techniques and computer technology in quality management
Since the 1970s, Japanese companies have gained huge benefits from quality management, fully recognizing the benefits of total quality management. The Japanese began to treat quality management as a science, and widely used statistical technology and computer technology for promotion and application. Total quality management has achieved new development at this stage.
◆The content and requirements of total quality management are standardized
With the popularity of total quality management concepts, more and more companies are adopting this management method. In 1986, the ISO standardized the content and requirements of total quality management, and in March 1987 officially promulgated the ISO 9000 series of standards, which is the third stage of the development of total quality management. Therefore, the ISO9000 series of standards we are usually familiar with are actually the standardization of the original comprehensive quality management research results.
◆Quality management rises to the management level
With the development of quality management ideas and methods to a higher level, the production management and quality management of enterprises have been upgraded to the level of management. Whether in the academic or business world, many well-known scholars such as Zhu Lan, Shi Chuanxin, Jiu Mi and others have put forward a lot of ideas and theories about this aspect. The concept of "quality management is the lifeline of business management" has gradually been adopted by enterprises. accept.
5.TQM implementation method
The following focuses on the methods for conducting total quality management:
First, the working method of implementing PDCA cycle
The PDCA is a combination of the first letters of the English Plan, Do, Check, and Action words. The PDCA work cycle is based on the order of planning, execution, inspection, and processing. In the quality management activities, it is required to follow the plan according to the plan, and then test the results, incorporate the successful plan into the standard, and leave the unsuccessful solution to the next cycle. This working procedure reflects the general regularity of carrying out management activities.
Second, strengthen the management of 4M
An important feature of total quality management is “preventive”, that is, change only by “post-event” to strengthen “pre-existing prevention” and change management results as management factors. So what are the main factors affecting product quality in the production process?
They are: 1. Man - Worker
2, equipment (Machine) - including machinery and process equipment
3, material (Material) - including parts, materials and semi-finished products
4. Method - including working methods, conditions and environment
