1. What is CUL?
The CUL Mark is a UL Mark for the circulation of products on the Canadian market. Products with such markings have been certified to meet Canadian safety standards, which are essentially the same as those cited in UL in the United States. Of course, the standards for certain products vary. For example, there are two sets of standards for hand-held power tools: UL45 is only available in the United States. UL745-1 is available in the US and Canada. The two standards are similar and are derived from the International Electrotechnical Commission IEC60745, the safety standard for hand-held motor-driven tools. The CUL logo is commonly used in household appliances, computer equipment, ventilation equipment, home security systems, and other types of products.
When exporting, the company may encounter Canadian customers and require CUL certification. After CUL certification, the product meets the safety requirements of all provinces in Canada. It is a good idea to apply for CUL at the same time of applying for UL. Because many inspection items of UL and CUL are duplicates, you only need to do a few less when applying for CUL, and then apply for more procedures, so that you can pay for it at a lower cost. Obtain two-digit certification in a short period of time.
