Course overview
On March 1, 2006, the International Organization for Standardization published the standard ISO 14064 standard. ISO 14064 is a three-part international standard that includes a set of GHG calculation and verification criteria. The standard specifies the best international greenhouse gas data and data management, reporting and verification models. Organizations can calculate and validate emissions values using a standardized methodology to ensure that the measurement of 1 ton of carbon dioxide is the same everywhere in the world. This makes the calculation of the emission declaration uncertainty uniform throughout the world.
ISO 14064 contains three standards: ISO 14064-l:2006 "Greenhouse gases - Part 1: Organizational guidelines for quantification, monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and reductions", ISO 14064-2:2006 "Greenhouse gases - Part 2: Code for Quantification, Monitoring and Reporting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Reductions for Projects, ISO 14064-3:2006, Greenhouse Gases - Part 3: Guidelines for the Confirmation and Validation of Greenhouse Gas Declarations. They set specifications and guidance for organizations and businesses in detail, and they can be used independently or as a series of methods to meet the diverse needs of GHG measurement and verification.
